Very Parivarik Season 2: Fun, But Not as charming as S1
Very Parivarik Season 2: Fun, But Not as charming as S1
Hey everyone, welcome back to my blog! It’s time to talk about Very Parivarik Season 2, which dropped on May 9, 2025, on Amazon miniTV and YouTube and then continued weekly. If you’re like me, you were obsessed with Season 1’s cozy family vibes. I completed Season 2, and while it’s a good show with some great laughs, it doesn’t quite capture the magic of the first season. Let me break it down for you-why it’s fun, where it falls short, and what I think about it. Grab some chai and let’s dive in!
This season follows our favorite family : Anish, Shelly, Shakuntala, and Avadhraj, as they tackle new adventures.
The big change?
They’ve stepped up the production value big time. The visuals are crisp, the colors are bright, and the editing is super smooth. Unlike Season 1, which was mostly set inside their house, Season 2 takes us outside a lot—to film sets, villages, and even random streets with traffic cops. It looks amazing, and these new settings bring in a ton of new characters, like relatives, an ex, and village folks. But here’s the catch: with all these new faces, we get less time with our main family. The banter that made Season 1 so special, like Avadhraj’s money-saving rants or Shakuntala’s sassy comebacks takes a backseat. That made it harder for me to connect, and it just didn’t feel as relatable as Season 1.
Let’s go through the episodes. The Shoot kicks things off with Shelly’s family crashing her film set, introducing a meta twist where their life is a show within the show. It’s a cool idea, but not as warm as Season 1’s homey chaos. Flight: The Udaan is better, with Shakuntala hating her new 9-to-5 job and Avadhraj fighting a rent hike, calling himself the middle-class Batman. It’s funny and feels more like the show we love. Relatives: The Guests brings in family drama over land division, but new relatives steal the spotlight from our core crew. Dance: The Thumka has Shakuntala’s viral dance reel go wrong, plus Anish and Avadhraj dealing with a chatty autowallah—fun, but the new characters don’t hit the same.
Ex: The Loan is a highlight, with Anish’s ex, Kanika, asking for a loan that keeps growing, and Avadhraj losing it over a ₹20,000 electricity bill. His over-the-top reactions are gold, but Kanika’s arc pulls focus from the family. The village arc in Village: The Gaon (Part 1) and Chaddi Chor: The Mystery is quirky, with a silly “underwear thief” subplot and Shelly becoming a village celebrity. It’s visually cool, but the village characters overshadow our family’s chemistry. Thief: The Fame wraps up this arc, with Shelly questioning if they caught the right thief, but it’s more about the village than the family we care about.
Baby: The Panic is one of the best this season and brings back some heart, with Anish and Shelly freaking out over a possible baby after a brunch with kids. The doctor visits and parenting panic are hilarious and sweet, but the family banter still feels limited. The finale, Present: The Vartmaan, ties up the season with heartfelt moments and that meta twist again but is weak. It’s nice but doesn’t match Season 1’s cozy endings.
Why Season 1 Was Better
Season 1, which came out on March 22, 2024, was all about those small, everyday moments - kitchen fights, festival mishaps, that felt like my own family. With over 5 million YouTube views and a trending Teej special, it was a hit because it was so relatable. Season 2 looks fancier and goes big with new places and people, but that’s the problem. The new characters, while fun, don’t feel like family, and I didn’t connect with them much. Season 1’s simple, home-based comedy was just warmer and more personal. Season 2 is good, but it falls short of that charm. If they make a Season 3, the writers need to bring back more of the family’s banter and keep things simple.
Shoutout to the Team Behind It
Big props to director Vaibhav Bundhoo, who also co-created the show with Arunabh Kumar. Vaibhav’s vision makes Season 2 look good, with those vibrant outdoor scenes and smooth pacing. The writers - Vaibhav Bundhoo, Deeksha Choudhary, Anand Kumar, Swarndeep Biswas, Harshpal Singh, and Dishant Verma, did a solid job mixing humor and heart, but I wish they’d focused more on the family instead of adding so many new characters. Arunabh Kumar, a TVF legend, brings his knack for relatable Indian stories, but Season 2 feels like it’s trying too hard to be clever. If they dial back the meta stuff and stick to what made Season 1 special, Season 3 could be a banger.
The Cast Steals the Show
The cast is the heart of Very Parivarik, and they’re amazing in Season 2. Srishti Rindani as Shelly is perfect, she nails the modern wife vibe, balancing humor and warmth, especially in Baby: The Panic. Pranay Pachauri as Anish is so relatable as the guy caught between his wife and parents, and his comedic timing in Ex: The Loan is spot-on. Kanupriya Pandit as Shakuntala is a queen-her sassy one-liners and power moves like in *Dance: The Thumka are pure gold. And Paritosh Sand as Avadhraj? He’s the MVP. His over-the-top reactions, like freaking out over bills or declaring himself middle-class Batman, had me laughing out loud. Even with less screentime, these four carry the show and make every family moment feel real.
Final Thoughts
I’d give Very Parivarik Season 2 a 3 out of 5. It’s a fun ride with great laughs and a polished look—those outdoor scenes and new settings are awesome. Fans are loving it, with thousands of likes on TVF’s posts and an 8.3/10 on IMDb. But compared to Season 1’s cozy, relatable vibe, it misses the mark. The new characters and meta humor are cool but take away from the family banter we fell in love with. If Season 3 happens, I hope the team brings back that homey charm and gives our favorite family more time to shine.
p.s.
Also they dropped a special like a talk show, with Jammy overtaking. It was fun. One of the best from this season along with episodes 8 and 9. It's always good to see Jammy and TVF did a good job there.
What did you think of Season 2? Did you miss the Season 1 vibes like me, or did you love the new adventures? Drop your thoughts in the comments—I’d love to hear from you! Until next time, stay parivarik and keep watching!
