5G Networks in India : Ministry says; Coming soon
On Saturday, Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that 5G deployment will start in 20 to 25 cities and towns by the end of the year. He also stated that India, whose data prices are currently significantly lower than the global average, will continue to set rate benchmarks as new services are introduced.
According to the minister, India is developing 4G and 5G stacks in order to strengthen its position as a trusted source for the rest of the world in digital networks. Mr. Vaishnaw stated at an event that nations are eager to give preference to India's 4G and 5G products and technologies. "I can say with confidence that 5G deployment will begin in at least 20-25 cities and towns by year end," he said of 5G services.
The government will auction off about Rs 4.3 lakh crore in airwaves capable of providing fifth-generation or 5G telecom services such as ultra-high-speed internet next month, and it has also approved the establishment of captive 5G networks by big tech firms.
In this massive auction, the TRAI intended to auction off spectrum band. According to Saudi Gazette, all available spectrum in the existing bands of 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz, and 2500 MHz as well as the new bands of 600 MHz, 3300-3670 MHz, and 24.25-28.5 GHz would be placed up for auction. TRAI had previously suggested a 39 percent decrease in the reserve price, often known as the "floor price," for the sale of 5G spectrum for mobile services.
When asked about the cost of 5G services, Mr. Vaishnaw noted that even now, data rates in India are around $2, compared to the $25 global average.
"By at least a factor of ten, we are already the lowest in the entire world. The same pattern will also be seen in other locations, "added he. India has created 4G and 5G technology stacks as it gets ready to launch 5G services.
The Minister said the world has taken notice of the country's progress and shown serious interest in the indigenous technologies being developed. He outlined India's resolve to match global strides in 4G and 5G and to take technology leadership in 6G.
"The telecommunications network that powers mobile devices must be a reliable network. On the list of reliable network providers, India is at the top. The entire globe is interested in a technology that India creates "added he.
It is important to note that 5G services will bring about high speeds—roughly 10 times quicker than 4G—and give rise to cutting-edge products and business models.
